When many people think of poker they think of people in Westerns, drinking beer and playing the game. The truth is, poker exploded onto the market in the last century and is now more popular than it ever has been. With more and more people now playing the game it is important to know which hands are the best.

The best hand that a player can get is a Royal Flush. This is when a player receives a sequence of cards in the same suit with a high ace. The best hand that you can get is an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit.

A straight flush is almost the same as a Royal Flush except that the cards can be anywhere else on the spectrum. For example a two, three, four, five and six of hearts would qualify as a straight flush. This is the second best hand that a player can be dealt.

Four of a kind if the third best hand and basically means four of the same suit. A Jack of hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs is an example of this hand.

There are a number of other poker hands that people can get but those above are the best hands a player can be dealt in a game. Other hands include a flush (five cards of the same suit), a straight (five sequential cards in any suit), Three of a kind (for example three Jacks), two pairs and finally one pair. Other hands are junk or unrelated hands and are not valuable in the game.
